Your data stays on your iPhone.
BloodWork does not collect, store, sell or share any personal data. Everything you add to the app is processed and kept on your own device.
There is no account, no BloodWork server, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party tracking code in the app.
Who we are
BloodWork is an app made by an independent developer ("we", "us"). For any question about this policy or your data, contact us at:
support@bloodwork.siteWhat BloodWork handles, and where it lives
To work, the app handles the information you give it. All of it is processed and stored only on your device, inside the app's private storage:
| Information | Why the app uses it | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Scans, photos and PDFs of lab reports | To read your results | Stays on your device |
| Text recognized from those documents | To match values to biomarkers; you can correct it | Stays on your device |
| Biomarker results, ranges and dates | To show results, trends and insights | Stays on your device |
| Profile details you choose to enter (name, date of birth, sex, height, weight, blood type, activity, medications, allergies, conditions, family history) | To pick the right reference ranges and personalize habits | Stays on your device |
| Doctor notes, ticked habits and settings | To keep your notes and preferences | Stays on your device |
We never receive any of this information. BloodWork has no server, and the app contains no code that sends your data to us or to anyone else.
How your reports are read
Reading a report uses technology built into iOS and runs entirely on your device:
- Scanning uses Apple's VisionKit document camera.
- Text recognition uses Apple's Vision framework.
- Apple Intelligence. On supported devices with Apple Intelligence turned on, BloodWork uses Apple's on-device foundation model to suggest values the rule-based reader missed and to write a short summary of your results. This model runs on your device. BloodWork does not use any cloud or third-party AI service.
- On devices without Apple Intelligence, BloodWork uses its own rules, also entirely on your device.
Data we collect
None. The app does not collect usage data, diagnostics, identifiers, location, contacts, purchase details or health data. The app's App Store privacy label is Data Not Collected.
If you choose to share crash reports or app analytics with developers in your device settings, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash logs and aggregate statistics under Apple's own privacy policy. These never include your lab results.
Purchases
BloodWork is a paid app. All payments, whether you buy the app, an in-app purchase or a subscription, are handled by Apple through the App Store and your Apple Account. We never receive your name, email, payment card or billing address.
- To check whether you have access to paid features, the app asks Apple's StoreKit on your device. This information comes from Apple and is not shared with us.
- Apple sends us only sales reports that don't identify you, such as how many copies were sold in each country.
- Refunds, billing questions and subscription management are handled by Apple. See our Terms of Use.
Apple's handling of your purchase information is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Contacting us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write, and we use it only to reply. We don't add you to any mailing list. Please don't send lab reports or other health information by email. If you need to show us a problem, remove personal details first. Delete requests are honored: ask us and we'll delete your messages.
This website
bloodwork.site has no analytics, no cookies and no tracking. It's hosted on Cloudflare, which processes basic technical information, such as your IP address, to deliver the pages and protect the site from attacks, as described in Cloudflare's Privacy Policy. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts.
Tracking and advertising
BloodWork does not track you across apps or websites, does not use the advertising identifier, and shows no ads. It contains no third-party SDKs.
Permissions
- Camera, only when you choose to scan a document. Images stay on your device.
- Photos, through Apple's photo picker. The app only sees the photos you pick.
- Files, through Apple's file picker, only for the PDF you choose.
- Notifications, only if you turn on retest reminders. They are scheduled locally on your device; no push server is involved.
Security
Scans and exported files are written with iOS Complete file protection, so they're encrypted and unreadable while your device is locked. The rest of the app's data is protected by your device's built-in encryption and passcode.
Backups
Like any app, BloodWork's data is included in your device's own backups (iCloud Backup or a backup to your computer) if you have backups turned on. Those backups are created, encrypted and controlled by Apple under your Apple Account, not by us. BloodWork has no iCloud sync of its own.
Sharing and export
Data leaves the app only when you choose to send it. When you export a PDF of a report, export all your data as a file, or share a result, iOS shows the share sheet and you decide where it goes. After that, the app or person you shared it with is responsible for it.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your data stays on your device until you delete it. You can:
- delete a single report from the Documents tab;
- delete everything in Profile › Privacy & data › Delete everything;
- delete the app, which removes all of its data from your device.
Because we hold no copy of your data, we cannot recover anything you delete, and there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
Your rights
Data protection laws such as the EU and UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act give you rights to access, correct, delete and port your personal data. Because all of your data is on your device and in your control, you can use these rights directly in the app: view and edit everything, export it, or delete it. If you have a question, email us at the address above.
Children
BloodWork is meant for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.
Health information
BloodWork is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. Insights are general wellness information. Always discuss your results with a qualified healthcare professional.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and the effective date above before the change reaches the app. If a change ever meant any data leaving your device, we would ask for your permission in the app first.
